3 Reasons to dare yourself

Apr 16, 2024

Do you dare to go the extra mile for your dream, including making mistakes? If not, are you aware that every challenge has it cool moments too? Do you dare to have fun? Do you dare to give yourself grace after having done something out of your comfort zone? Or maybe still a bit in your comfort zone, yet saying to yourself “Job well done!”

That’s what today’s Monday Motivational Message (or Magic not sure yet) is about.

1) Dare to make mistakes

Every new thing comes with a trial and error period. The same applies to human beings. We learn by making mistakes too. There is no shame in having to learn things, one step at a time. Somehow we got it in our heads that we need to do things perfect the first time around. If we can’t do it perfect that very first time, we just don’t do it at all, especially when doing things in public.

Now ask yourself: If you are watching someone else learning something new and at the same time getting out there, showing it to others. Would you like and possibly encourage that?

Why would we be more lenient towards others and be harsh on ourselves at the same time? That’s something to think about.

2) Dare to have fun

With new things we also get to experience the unknown, which often leads to hilarious situations. It’s those unexpected moments and events which makes it all the more worthwhile.

When something is really important, we take “enjoyment” and “fun” out of the game. As kids we learned in playful ways. Let’s do so again and next be proud of ourselves as we would be of kids who learn something new.

3) Dare to say “Job well done!”

When we encourage others, especially children, we tell them how good they are doing. Why does that stop when we are adults? Why should it be any different? Because others say so? Does encouragement stop, just because we get more mature and hence we have to know better?

I dare to say that we still like to receive compliments when we do a good job. I also believe that we still would like encouragement when we are learning something new, even as adults. We might not get it from others anymore, but we can sure tell ourselves that we did good. So go tell yourself: “job well done!”

Last but not least:

Dare to say “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Why? Because it’s nice to appreciate circumstances leading us to where we want to be. A little support goes a long way.
