How to Move Forward When Being in the thick of Growth

I'm in the middle, I'm in the thick of it.

This is about being in the growth, which comes with the necessary struggles and challenges. Right now, the biggest one is how I talk to the leaders out there, specifically the neurodivergent and creatively gifted. Why them? Because I believe that a lot of leaders consist of people who think differently—looking at things from all directions, taking detours instead of following linear thinking.

I am no exception. Often, when people explained things to me, I felt something was left out. I needed to take people on the detour, to guide them toward what I missed and needed extra explanations on. The most difficult part of it all? Not being understood when I actually knew the message, but everyone seemed to brush me off.

Questions:

  • Have you ever experienced being stuck in growth?
  • What specifically did you do?
  • How did it turn out for you?
  • What can you take away from then, which you can use now?

I'm Left of Center—Am I Wrong or Right?

Juggling to get things out there—like this blog post—amidst all the other things that need to be done, is confusing at best. There are so many suggestions on what to do. What I wanted to get out there doesn’t seem to be good enough. For weeks now, I’ve been going up and down, left and right, not sure what is wrong or right. It’s like there are too many options. Every time I think we’re there, something else comes up.

I need to set my boundaries and stick to them, while at the same time accepting and working on the changes that will improve my message.

Questions:

  • What are you struggling with?
  • When do you feel tempted to stray from the path?
  • What can you do to stick to what you believe is the right thing?

What's in the Balance? It's just my life!

It’s so important to get things right for me. This is the time for me to show the legacy that I want to leave behind. It’s not just about guiding people to see and find perspective again by being heard, seen, and understood. This is about taking things to the next level by making sure that leaders understand their people and are understood by those same people.

I’ve launched Lady Lexy Leads exactly for that purpose. And since we’re talking about my legacy, it’s exactly that weight which is described with this one question and answer:

What’s in the balance?
It’s just my life!

Questions:

  • What is the one decision that might have been the most important in your life?
  • What did you do to make it happen?
  • How did it align with your life and business?
  • Did it, or was there a conflict?

Up the Center, Left or Right

Going back and forth between the guidelines and even the topics of the right blog post is utterly frustrating. I have no problem with learning, adapting, and adjusting. I do, however, have a problem with going left and right, up the center, down the middle, burning right.

What is the right thing to do? I’ve gone from explaining this song to talking about what “in the thick of it” means, to being confronted with expressing myself differently. This directly led to taking away the fluff and explaining the difference between how the average person (verbal thinkers) sees things (linear) versus people like me, who are neurodivergent and tend to take detours—especially as visual thinkers.

Questions:

  • What kind of thinker are you?
  • Are you a verbal thinker or a visual thinker?
  • Are you a linear thinker, or do you take detours, just like me?
  • Do you work top-down, or do you start with the details?
  • Whatever you choose, how does your way of communication resonate with others?

Where is Up if You Are Down? Drive in circles, round and round

Since I’m also what they call creatively gifted, describing things verbally in stories and sometimes literally in symbols and drawings, this is such an important topic. For me, this sums everything up—being heard, seen, and understood, especially when it comes to companies (or units in general).

Questions:

  • Do you feel heard, seen, and understood?
  • Can you help others feel the same?

Do I Scream or Get It Right? I'll do my best to make it fly

There is one more thing left to do: it’s about making this the right post. I have stepped up the game by making sure you—the listener, the reader—are part of this journey too. The question is, how deep do I need to go to show you how I feel? How raw does it need to be before you can resonate with this message? Do I need to show you how I feel internally, or is this good enough?

One thing I do know is the importance of getting this post out there today and, in general, on a consistent basis—every Monday, or at least weekly. That’s what making it fly is all about.

That’s why I’m ending this post with an answer given to me by an expert:

This is the sweet spot where ambition meets discipline. Taking things to the next level requires that you embrace Progress over Perfection because perfectionism will paralyze you, while progress will propel you. The right action isn’t always the  perfect action—it’s the next action that moves you forward, even if it’s messy, even if it’s small.

Questions:

  • How are you taking action?
  • Is there something you’re doing today?
  • How about after—this week, next week, the following month?
