chicago trip conviction tommy burke interview Aug 07, 2024

Introduction

Last weekend I had the pleasure ofinterviewing an amazing guy called Tommy Burke. It’s a guy with a huge drive and an amazing sense of humor. Most importantly, he wants to encourage people to keep going. He has written a book, talking about everything he did and has experienced. Unfortunately this is also the reason he started writing this book. He had to retire now that he’s dealing with Parkinson’s disease. This doesn’t stop him from continuing on with what he can do.

One of the reasons I’m late with this post, is precisely because of interviewing him. I did the interview together with a close friend, Jo, who loves Chicago just as much as I do and afterwards,we recorded a live video. We talked about the previous interview, wondering if we had asked everything we wanted to ask, including the ones we didn’t, because it didn’t seem right at the time. One of these things is knowing more about Chicago and recording the shows for Chicago PD. Jo and I had the opportunity to go watch them record and doing so again is high on our list.

Goal:

This month is dedicated to letting people know about the possibility to join me on a coaching “trip” through Chicago. It’s a combination between working on yourself, specifically certain mindsets and sightseeing. In addition I want to end up with one or more accountability groups for small business owners, with or without a team. The goal is to support them in being taken seriously and communicating with clarity, so it gets to work both ways.

Conviction:

People have been asking me if I shouldn’t postpone this. I have explained that I need to this. I need to see if I can make this happen this month, so I can meet up with my (new) clients in September. Of course I am aware I might not be able to make this happen,  but I’m going to do everything I can every day anew, to make this reality.

Confirmation:

The remarkable thing is that during this time I got an unexpected incentive. Not only Tommy’s message was about not giving up, Brendon Burchard talked during his daily fire about “convictions”. He explained about how this conviction keeps people moving, because of this belief that it’s possible to make it happen. That’s exactly how I feel and with it comes a drive to explore all the options.

Taking action:

Today I talked about “Convictions” during my weekly group coaching training. I explained that it’s important to keep on going, taking one step at a time, with some tweaking and changing, to see how things can improve. Visualizing something and talking about it is one thing, taking action is what is required. I included a meditation during the training for that extra little boost, to give that extra confidence, needed to take action.

Support:

Sometimes taking action means reaching out to others who have more experience with what it is you want to achieve. In my case, promoting this coaching trip. It means setting up a page with a link for people who want to help promote the trip, in return for a percentage.

Clues:

All in all I came up with a number of steps, to help the process going, which includes picking up on things which are right in front of you, but you might ignore without even being aware of this. True fact, at the beginning of the training there was even a reference to “Itsy Bitsy Spider”, who kept on trying over and over again. I’ll add that doing the same thing over and over won’t work. It’s making small changes and monitoring the effect, which can make you succeed.

Decide:

What is it you have been setting out to do, but never really took to the next level? If you are start up but get stuck again and again, consider singing up for a free workshop, become part of the group coaching or maybe even join me for that specific weekend in Chicago. All you have to do is go toLadyLexy.com/signupforchange, so you can get a free worksheet. Are you ready to go there?
