7 Ways how to Express Yourself with fun activities!

Jan 17, 2025

Let’s take a closer look at expressing yourself and how you can improve this. Expressing yourself is about getting clarity. There are many ways to do so, not just by using language. Below are a number of activities you can explore to express yourself in ways you didn’t know you were capable of, whilst having fun at the same time.

The importance of expressing yourself

Expressing yourself is about communicating. It is showing yourself and others what makes you happy and excited, or the total opposite. It’s a way to learn more about yourself and others, whether through speech, looks or in other ways.

Expressing yourself is one of the most important skills you will ever learn. Alas not all aspects are taught in school, depending on where and how you grow up. Yet it is critical if you want to experience a life of joy and fulfillment.

By expressing yourself you can get a message across. Not everyone understands the other one straight away, sometimes it can take a long time. This all depends on language, culture, looks, habits, capabilities, how you’ve grown up and what you have experienced, just to list a few things.

Clarity and Understanding

The number One reason for expressing yourself is that people can understand you. IT is about finding your voice, when people are not taking you seriously. It’s about clarity on both ends. Being taken seriously can make or break your life.

Being understood is about getting across why something is important to you, what you need and why, how you feel about something and why you agree or disagree. It’s a misconception to think people will understand you since some things are considered the norm. That norm is linked to time, technology and your direct environment. This is precisely why it’s so important to be able to express yourself.

Being able to express yourself also helps you understand yourself better, especially when you are capable of experimenting with it. Whereas it might take time to learn how to do it, it can and will be rewarding to experience who you are (becoming), being able and at the same time feeling comfortable to be the authentic you.

Now it’s up to you

There will always be people who won’t understand you the first time around, nor the second or the third time. The good news is, it can improve, especially with the necessary support and giving yourself endless chances. At some point you will have found  your voice, as long as you keep going, each time with some more clarity and specificity.

Having gone through this list, you should have some ideas where to start. You know what materials you can access to, how much time you have and what you prefer to do. Regardless of this choice, make the time for it and go do it! Find a place you love to go to start working on those dreams and goals, even if it simply means getting better at something (which can be a huge achievement).

Get your notebook and write down what you’re going to do and when. Remember to use inspiration from your environment, set the intention, reflect afterwards and especially to have fun in the process!
