Part II: The Chicago Courage Challenge with Lady Lexy
Aug 21, 2024
This week’s message is about the Courage it sometimes takes to get your message out there. Sometimes, since a lot of people don’t even try, or simply give in after the first failed attempt.
Courage
Sharing with people what’s important to you is not as normal as it seems. What if people were to ridicule you and/or ignore you altogether when sharing this? It gets even more uncomfortable if you do want to get it out there and you’re not sure how, or only partially. What are the mechanics to get it out there? Who’s going to help you?
Higher Level
This is exactly why this challenge takes courage. It takes courage to take things to a higher level. Especially when you want to get your message out there. Apart from the message itself, there are so many things involved when it comes to for instance social media, or better said marketing in general. We either need a specialized team, or we need to be able to do it all by ourselves. That’s at least what most of us are likely thinking.
Incentive / Inspiration
Whenever you have a profound “why”, a real good reason to do it, this might help you move forward, over and over again. An incentive, your reason to get things going, can be one of the most powerful things. Using an anchor and/or a trigger to serve as reminder (although technically that should not be needed), can help speed things up.
Communication
Getting your message out there, might either be the reason to not do it, or precisely be the reason to get out there. Once you’ve start talking about it, it can come across as a failure that you’re not finishing it. If you’ve done this more often, chances are that not just you are blaming yourself, but others don’t expect too much either. Therefore it’s key that you keep going once the word is out there. And if you don’t do it for yourself or others, remember there’s a far more powerful leader behind the controls. Your brain.
Accountability
What helps is talking to others about it, with the intent of asking them, to help you. Agreeing with them that you keep them posted on a daily or weekly basis can make all the difference. People will easily say “yes” to this request, but only a few actually live up to this assigned “role”. The exceptions being the coaches and other mental health care workers (apart from employers and those who have hired you).
Groundwork / Legwork
When you can muster up the courage to get started, you need to gather information on how to get things done. This is what can drain you of all your energy. If it’s easy and interesting, it will give you energy (assuming you also have the time to do it). If you need to search for the answers, it’s going to be a lot harder to keep going. That where communication, in this case asking others, can make a ton of difference. Yes AI and google might come in handy too.
Overview
Last but not least you end up with an overview of things that need to be done, how and when. That doesn’t necessarily mean you know how, but you do know where to look for it is you need (to do). Again, asking others can simplify things, since there’s more out there than we are aware of.
This acronym is called Chicago and it’sinspired by my travels to Chicago. Every time I came back I felt the need to do challenges. Traveling for a number of weeks, close to a month, gave me so much clarity, for a large being the result of living out of a suitcase.
By using this acronym over and over again, it’ll help you provide with clarity. With clarity comes courage, since things appear more simple all of a sudden.
Chicago Courage Challenge
This acronym is what I’m teaching people this week, during my Chicago Courage Challenge. It is something I use myself, since I am also still learning to improve how to get my communication out there for the challenge. It is something that’s being used by the ones I coach. You could be on that list too. This week you can join the challenge for free!
What do you want and possibly need?
