4 Ways how to Make Change happen - MMM S1E14
Jun 04, 2024That one thing you know you want and need to work on
How often have you thought about that One Thing you want to accomplish, yet something always seem to be in the way of making it happen? Are you aware of the reasons? Are they excuses or are they valid reasons for you not being able to accomplish working on that one thing? Maybe it’s a combination of both.
Let’s take a closer look at what you can do about it.
1) Let’s see the outcome
Visualizing is a very powerful tool. Not everyone can do it without some tools and support, so the first step starts with making it - literally - visual. You probably have heard about vision boards?
Vision boards
A vision board is like a big poster or board (with pins) you can put on your wall, or wherever it catches your eye. You put pictures and/or words on it of thing you like. You get the input from magazines, pictures you have, screenshots from things you like and you either print them or cut them straight away so they can fit you vision board.
Upside
A vision board can be changed easily. You can look at it before falling asleep and waking up.
Downside
You cannot take it with you when you are on the road.
Affirmation sheets
An affirmation sheet is a list of phrases which you repeat at least one time a day, preferably when you get up and before you go to sleep. The goal is to feel every sentence and be aware of the outcome and what it looks like.
Upside
Once it’s made, it’s easy to recite. You can always take a version with you whether printer and/or on your phone.
Downside
- A lot of people use negative words or denials in the phrases.
- A lot of phrases are long and hence it’s hard to focus on the core message.
- It’s important to not say it at record speed, since it won’t sink in.
2) Let’s see, hear and take the outcome with you
Combine what you know
- See it;
- Be able to quote it.
Focal points
- Be able to take it with you;
- Make sure your sentences are working for you (instead of against you);
- Be able to add things easily;
- Be able to include action steps.
Get a booklet
- Get a little booklet (A6 size), preferably with pouches, that you can easily take with you in your coat pocket and/or your bag (whatever works for you);
- Include one or more important pictures;
- Include the list of affirmations.
Things to consider
- Write down your beliefs about the outcome (make sure it’s positive and in the now);
- Write down what the outcome looks like (if that’s not visible yet on the pictures). Be specific;
- Write down a list of tools you can try when you don’t know how to continue on;
- Have a list of friends in there you know you can reach out to when you’re stuck.
3) Create momentum and flow
This might be the most important thing in the list!
Time
- Find a moment during the day you can dedicate to your dreams and goals;
- Don’t feel like you have to rush. If you do, only focus on something really small;
- Make sure to focus on relevant activities as well;
- Check if you are still focusing on the right activities. If not, adjust, rephrase and/or delete them or add new ones.
Perfect surroundings
- Be in a place where you feel at ease;
- Make sure there are not too many distractions;
- Be in the vicinity of food and healthy beverages;
- See if you can have someone working with you, or at least encouraging you.
4) Join the Change Challenge
The past week I’ve created the Change Challenge. It consists of 5 course days and I am going to repeat this Challenge, adding a live aspect to it, starting today.
When you join this challenge, you get a worksheet how to transform your statements and self talk from negative to positive.
For a limited time only, you can join the Change Challenge for free. It will teach you how to work with the booklet and makes you think about others things as well, including your why and hence your motivation.
